Add salesforce.com search to your Mozilla Firefox browser

This just in: the search plug-ins have been updated for the Spring '07 release. Please follow the steps below to re-install the plug-in.

This plug-in adds the ability to run a salesforce.com unified, advanced, or solution search in your salesforce.com account, right from your Firefox search bar. When you perform a search you will be prompted by salesforce.com to log in if you do not have a valid session.

salesforce.com and salesforce.com solutions added to your firefox search bar

Note: This plug-in does not collect or use your salesforce.com log-in information in any way. Always keep your password safe, and only enter it on a verified salesforce.com domain.

How to install the plug-in:

  1. Select which instance you use. This is the first few characters of the name of the salesforce.com server that you use once you are logged in (e.g. https://na1.salesforce.com/home/home.jsp is na1):

  2. Click the links below to install the search in Firefox:

  3. Now search!

The plug-ins are installed in your browser's searchplugins folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\sfdc*). Should you ever want to remove them, simply delete the files that start with sfdc from that folder.

While it is possible to install search plug-ins for more than one salesforce.com instance (e.g. na1 and ap), it is not recommended. Since the instance name is not included in the text, there will be no way to differentiate between them other than by trying them. If you've installed the wrong one, simply delete it and try again.
